Forgive the obvious fact that the car you are actually looking at hasn’t really got anything to do with the little 80′s theme we have going on here at the moment, but if you look closely you might begin to understand why we have decided to run it today.
Keiichi Tsuchiya's AE86 is probably one of the most inspiring cars for me. Through the hours and hours of watching Hot version and other kind of Japanese car related videos, Dorikin's car remained my personal favourite. I have tried to put together all the information on the web that I could manage to get and to place it here so that everyone can enjoy it. So... Let me introduce to you THE DORIKIN TOUGE MONSTER.
I have been lucky to win some old front coilover set of an ebay. It was a pretty old Tein setup. I contacted Tein for some spare parts that I needed for rebuilding them, but they informed me that this was a 30 year old unit and that they basically could not help. It was a whole strut assembly - springs perches, insert and camber plates. I also won a set of rear bilstein inverted shocks on a different lot. Here is the "new" suspension when it came home:
Hey Guys. Quite a long time no post in here but slowly I will try to compensate for that.
There was a period that I was away from my home country and I could not work on my car but thing are now slowly getting back to normal. I will try to document and show what I am doing and I hope that this would be interesting.
I have made a lot of things for my Hachiroku project, mainly maintenance work keeping the car running pretty much in stock form but Also some new things have arrived and I hope the would be interesting for you.
This article would show the rebuild of the Steering rack I did maybe a year ago.
I managed to source most of the parts form my local car parts supplier and everything pretty much came under 50 euro in terms of parts. Here is the list of what I have changed.
The rack has been disassembled and the inner and outer tie rods replaced with ones. Also the rubber sleeves were quite shot so I also replaced them.
Here is the rack when I removed it from the car.
